Below is one of several of my paintings inspired by Dale Chihuly, the great artist in glass, whose sheer
vitality has been integrated amongst the luxuriant vegetation in our local Conservatory. With great
force and impact his fragile creations tell us that "Life" is no accidental, inessential scum befouling
the surface of one miniscule speck within an infinite universe that is lifeless to the core-- Life derives
from the Center and drives all things:

Our first day of driving the Circle Road around the nation of Iceland, I happened to glance up a towering cliffside
to where an immense jagged slab of white cloud threatened to obliterate us, then realized that it was merely
a tiny lobe of the glacier that blankets an entire third of the island. Iceland is blessed with
vast glaciers that nest atop a cauldron of volcanic activity. In Iceland, glaciers are the stepping stones
to heaven:
